I bet there were a bunch of blogs about it, though.

Well, it was a near drowning and the family is suing the school for possible current/future brain damage. The school journalism class was the only news organization on site, since it was the school pool.
I bet there were a bunch of blogs about it, though.

By: Thomas Dang

Well, it was a near drowning and the family is suing the school for possible current/future brain damage. The school journalism class was the only news organization on site, since it was the school pool.

Newspapers do fill that niche market. I actually believe that they will need to do exactly what your high school paper does - go hyperlocal (see future post). My argument here is that the physical paper format of the newspaper is on it's way out.

High school papers are an interesting case. They aren't guaranteed freedom of the press and can have their content controlled by the school administration. It's impressive that your school paper was able to get a better story than anyone else, and I'm curious about the lawsuit. I imagine the paper got some fact wrong?

Sure Thomas, I think we actually agree. Newspapers do fill that niche market.
